1. What is the Holiday Sober Hotline?

The Holiday Sober Hotline is a confidential, peer-support phone line where people in active recovery offer compassionate listening, grounding, and encouragement during the holiday season.

2. Who answers the calls?

Calls are answered by trained volunteers with lived recovery experience. They are not clinicians, therapists, or medical professionals — just real people who understand what you’re going through.

3. When can I call?

You can call anytime during our holiday operating hours (9:30AM TO 9:30PM). If the line is busy, please try again — someone will pick up as soon as possible.

4. Do I have to share my name?

No. Calls are confidential and anonymous. You can share as much or as little as you want.

5. What can I talk about?

Anything you need support with: cravings, emotional stress, loneliness, family pressure, holiday triggers, or just needing someone to hear you.

6. Is this a crisis or emergency hotline?

No. We do not provide crisis intervention or emergency services. If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a mental health emergency, please call 911 or 988 right away.

7. Is this therapy or professional treatment?

No. This hotline offers peer support only. We don’t diagnose, provide medical advice, or replace professional care.

8. Is there a cost to call?

No. The hotline is free to use. 

9. Will my call be recorded?

No. Calls are not recorded, stored, or monitored. We do not collect personal information.

10. Can you connect me with more resources if I need them?

Yes. If you want additional help, we can share info recovery meetings, harm reduction options, treatment centers, and digital sobriety tools — but only if you ask.
